English - GCSE
By the end of the course learners will be able to:
- read a range of texts, fluently and with good understanding
- apply an understanding of grammatical terminology and linguistic conventions
- use knowledge gained from reading a wide range of texts to inform their own writing
- speak and write effectively using Standard English

Suitability - Who should attend?
GCSE English Language courses are for those who wish to gain a GCSE to improve job or higher education prospects. They are for learners who do not already have a grade C (or Grade 4) or above in this subject.
Training Course Content
You will study a variety of different texts; tackle creative writing tasks and complete a Speaking and Listening unit. There will be a Spoken Language assessment carried out in class in the spring term, plus two written exams on 2nd and 5th June 2020 Your written exams will take place at a central exam venue; not the centre at which you are studying the course.
