Course description
This City and Guilds course will allow students to develop and practise the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a career in the construction industry.
You'll benefit from industry-trained tutors with vast experience as Carpenters and Joiners, and well-equipped industry-standard workshops, supported by a team of technicians.
This course takes place on Tuesdays 1pm – 7:30pm, term-time.

Suitability - Who should attend?
There are no formal requirements but you should be able to demonstrate an interest in and commitment to the subject.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
You could progress to the Site Carpentry Diploma L2, a site carpentry apprenticeship or employment.
Training Course Content
Topics include:
- Principles of building construction, information and communication
- Maintain and use carpentry & joinery hand tools
- Prepare and use carpentry & joinery portable power tools
- Produce woodworking joints
- Health, safety and welfare in construction
Course delivery details
This course is a mixture of theory and practical hands-on experience.
Homework: Self-study is expected and homework will be set at the tutors' discretion, with materials available on the College VLE.

You will need safety footwear and normal study equipment.
A portfolio is supplied that needs to be completed by the candidate, with their practical and theoretical evidence.
