This AIM Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Building, Installation and Property Maintenance Skills will provide you with the skills to undertake aspects of building, installation, and maintenance work. Choose 3 from 5 available subjects: Plumbing, Plastering, Tiling, Carpentry and Brickwork
What Youll LearnTiling: 2 weeks
This course will cover both wall and floor tiling, teaching you to tile using a range of different products, covering different patterns and tiling in different areas.
Plumbing: 2 weeks
This course deals with all aspects of domestic plumbing including systems and fittings, soldering techniques, jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube, valves, taps and cisterns and plastic tube installations all leading to a complete bathroom installation.
Plastering:2 weeks
This course covers fixing plasterboard and taping joints, cutting and fixing angle beads, bonding of surfaces, skimming walls and ceilings, patch repair.
Carpentry: 2 weeks
This course will cover use of hand tools such as chisels, planes etc., you will learn how to cut basic joints, cut and fit architraves and skirtings, fit a lock, fit a door into a lining/frame (Time permitting). You will Know how to produce quotes for specific carpentry tasks, to construct partitions (with openings and change of direction) and undertake installation of an accessible service encasement.
Bricklaying: 2 weeks
This course will teach you trowel techniques to enable you to build a corner, a pyramid wall, a 2-brick pier and a cavity wall. You will also learn how to do pointing for face work and how to put in a damp course. Moving on to the assessment phase where you will construct basketweave walling, an English bond wall with a decorative finish.
How Youll LearnThese are hands-on training courses but as this is a level 3 qualification, theory aspects will also be covered to ensure that you have an all-round understanding of aspects of each trade. You are involved at every stage, getting completely involved in every aspect of every course. A great way to learn more than just the basics of each trade and to be able to leave with the confidence to undertake aspects of these subjects yourself. Following a period of training, you will undertake assessments from both a theory and practical point of view to validate your understanding in the various trade subjects that you choose.

All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.
