Introduction to Painting & Decorating

This short intensive course is ideal for those of you who want to gain some basic introductory Painting & Decorating skills. Those who complete the course will be provided with an Able Skills certificate, assured by City & Guilds. This course is ideal for individuals who want to gain an insight into Painting & Decorating, maybe with a view to progressing further and achieving qualifications.

This 5 day painting & decorating course has been recognised by City & Guilds as a comprehensive introduction to painting & decorating so upon successful completion of this courseyou will receive an Able Skills certificate assured by City & Guildsto confirm the skills that you will have learned.

This course covers a variety of tasks and you will learn how to:

• Prepare areas before painting including repairing imperfections
• Apply water and oil based products using brushes and rollers
• Learn how to cut around obstructions, openings and fittings and
• Learn how to properly cut, paste and hang wallpaper.

In addition, we will cover aspects of working safely as well as explain and demonstrate the required tools of the trade and give plenty of painters tips along the way.

If you have some tasks at home to tackle, this course will definitely give you the skills and confidence to make a start.

This is a practical course, entirely hands on, working on a variety of areas such as walls and ceilings, skirting boards and window frames. You will have guidance from instructors who will provide demonstrations to ensure your understanding of the task in hand.

There are so many different training options at Able Skills. You can choose to maybe move on to qualification options, maybe aCity and Guilds CourseorNVQ Level 2 Painting & Decorating Course. Alternatively, it may be that you want to cover wallpapering in more detail in which case we offer a 5 Day Wallpapering Course

All tools and materials will be supplied for you during this painting & decorating course and if after having spent a week with us on this course you decide to upgrade to achieve one of the above listed recognised painting & decorating qualifications, we will adjust your training time and fees to accommodate for the 5 day painting & decorating course you have completed.

This course can be quite a messy course so please bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.

All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.

The cost for this certificated Introduction to Painting & Decorating course is £445.00 including VAT. A £150.00 deposit will secure a booking and the balance can be paid on the start date. This course is also available at weekends. 2 alternate weekends will be allocated to complete the course.
