Intermediate Plastering Course

An ideal course if you have basic plastering skills or have attended our introductory plastering course and would like an opportunity to learn a bit more, work on larger areas and have the chance to build on your speed and technique.

This 5 day Advanced Plastering courseis ideally suited to those of you who have completed our 5 dayIntroductory Plastering courseand want to take things a step further. This particular plastering course will improve your speed and technique in skimming walls and ceilings, will enhance your rendering skills and also teach you the Dot & Dab method, all with the aim of teaching you to plaster to perfection.The course will cover:

• Cutting and setting beads
• Skimming walls
• Skimming ceilings
• Plastering reveals internal and external
• Bonding out
• Rendering
• Dot & Dab

The principles of plastering will be taught in a hands-on fashion as follows:

Day 1:Plasterboard ceilings & walls - Tape all joints

Day 2:Cut and tack skim beads - Skim whole pier - Skim 2 plain panels and ceiling.

Day 3:Skim back wall & side panels using internal angle trowel (twitcher)

Day 4:Rendering - Cut and attach bellcast and angle beads to wall - Apply scratch coat and key. Apply topcoat render - Rule off with feather edge.

Day 5:Cut and attach board to walls using Dot & Dab method. Rub up rendered wall to a plain face finish creating features.

Our total hands on approach guarantees that throughout your training time at Able Skills you will be continually plastering. Having years of experience in teaching construction skills, we know that this is the best method of teaching available. You will gain full knowledge of all of the plastering stages required and this will provide you with the ability and confidence to tackle plastering in more complex areas.

If from having spent 5 or 10 days with Able Skills you feel that you would like to go on and gain Plastering qualifications, we will adjust your training time and fees to accommodate for some of the time you have already spent with us.

This is a hands-on, practical plastering course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety,steel capped footwear is essential.

All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.

This is a5 day courseand the cost is£495.00including vat. A deposit of £150.00 will secure a booking with the balance payable on the start date. The course is also available over 2 consecutive weekends.
