Course description
We offer a 2-day practical inspection and testing and form filling course which is ideal for those of you who are getting ready to sit for your C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing practical examination or even as a refresher for those of you who have achieved this qualification already but have not had reason to practice your skills in recent times.
What Youll LearnInspection and Testing can be a complex aspect of an Electricians work and dependent upon the work you take on, is not always a requirement so is potentially something that you have little experience of despite your status as an Electrician. Able Skills instructors have devised this particular short course to provide a comprehensive awareness of procedures required when undertaking the inspection and testing of an existing electrical installation which will help if you have taken C&G 2391 theory exam and passed but have not yet completed the practical aspect of the award or alternatively, you have previously achieved these qualifications in full but have not undertaken any inspection and testing for some time and could do with some refresher training.
How Youll LearnPractical course
The practical aspect is entirely hands-on and will cover visual Inspection, long lead testing, R1 & R2 Testing for radial and ring circuits, safe isolation, insulation resistance and polarity, RCD testing including Ramp test, earth fault loop impedance of main incoming, radial and ring circuits, prospective short circuit current, prospective fault current, protective devices (in situ and non-compliant with BS7671) and earthing arrangements, selection of test equipment, hands on electrical testing and completing the report inspection and test schedules.
Form Filling course
Despite a range of proprietary software products being available for use on site or on the desktop, the City & Guilds courses use the IET forms found in the back of the BS7671.Form fillingisan important part of the assessment which documents your results and conclusions. The correctcompletion of documentation is an important part of your assessment. Able skill has devised this course in response to comments and feedback received from candidates both during the course and after practice assessments. This will benefit those who have limited experience filling out the IET suite of paperwork which includes an Electrical InstallationConditionReport as well an Electrical InstallationCertificate for the combined award inInitial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations. Careful consideration is given to each section with guidance on common mistakes.
A particular focus is given to the narrative used to describe visual defects and departures along with how to appropriately code them in accordance withGN3. You can benefit from this course if youhavelimited exposure to the IET forms and indeed if you are a working professional needing to improve proficiency in understanding.
