  • How would you describe your field and main tasks?

As a Scrum Master I play a crucial part in my two technology and software development teams’ success. My main role is to support my teams in their agile transformation journey which include tasks such as facilitating meetings, removing impediments and introducing new processes.

Most importantly my job is to ensure that both teams operates in an environment where they can get better every single day. My two teams develop and innovate new software and technologies for the rest of The LEGO Group, partners and customers, and by facilitating Scrum and being the absolute go-to person in any regard, I try to make things as easy as possible for everyone involved in the product development. I also coach the teams with the purpose of unlocking potential, optimizing the processes, and making our work more enjoyable.

  • What are the most exciting and challenging parts of your job?

I am inspired by our company's vision and mission and especially the empowerment and culture are compelling to me. Being a Scrum Master at The LEGO Group is really exciting because the job is both broad and at the same time very deep. This means, I have had the opportunity to form my own job, role, and tasks. In the beginning I mostly facilitated Scrum ceremonies whereas I have moved to do more coaching tasks. I am thrilled about the steep learning curve I am on, both professionally and personally. I am surrounded by very talented colleagues, leaders, and coaches that I learn from every single day and I absolutely love the cultural differences at the office.

Right now, the most challenging part of my job is to manage one of my teams which is a distributed team. The fact that it is existing of mainly external colleagues who are spread across several time zones and cultures, challenges me on many levels as I have come to realize that it requires a lot of different skills to manage such a diverse team.

  • How do you use your education in your position?

I have developed my personality parallel with my skill set during the five years at the university. Most essentially, I learned to acquaint oneself with new subject areas and fields in a systematic and critical way. I utilize it when taking on new tasks and for developing my capabilities for future challenges at work. We focused on personal and team development at my education. I apply my learnings by challenging, motivating and inspiring the scrum team and thereby realize their potential.

Thanks to my study I can understand, assess and manage technologies. This helps me collaborate with the developers about our product at a technical level. The digital landscape is constantly transforming. Coming from my education I am very comfortable with the uncertain, explorative and ever-changing digital environment. This helps me being curious and proactive when working with new organisational, strategic and technical challenges at work.
