Course description
Gain an in-depth understanding of garden design processes and procedures, from interpreting briefs to presenting design proposals. Study one morning per week over ten weeks, in Writtle.
Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is open to anyone with an interest in garden design, who has previously completed our Garden Design – An Introduction course.
We'll ask you to bring your own drawing materials (pencils, pens, scale ruler, flexi-curve, set-squares and an A2 sized drawing portfolio). Advice will be given on specific drawing materials and equipment throughout the course.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Having completed this intermediate course you'll be able to:
- appraise and interpret the client and project brief
- prepare site survey and site analysis (SWOT) of a project site
- compile a mood board/concept board for proposed design ideas
- prepare site functional analysis and functional diagrams based on the briefs
- develop complex design principles into an interim sketch design
- develop outline hard and soft landscape materials
- develop a final sketch design layout
- present final design proposals in 2D and 3D formats.
Course delivery details
This course assumes some previous knowledge, and you should first have completed our ten-weekGarden Design – An Introductioncourse.
We ask you to bring your own drawing materials (pencils, pens, scale ruler, flexi-curve, set-squares and an A2 sized drawing portfolio). Advice will be given on specific drawing materials and equipment throughout the course. Drawing paper will be supplied.
Free parking is availableon campus in Writtle: we'll issue a permit to you and ask that it's clearly displayed in your vehicle. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available; please bring any other refreshments.
