Do you want to think like a painter, and learn to create order out of chaos with your set of acrylics? Join us for a fun ten-week course where we will go on a journey into the wonderful world of acrylics, learning about mixing colours, preparing surfaces and a range of painting techniques.

Training Course Content
The following topics will be covered during the course: Painting Materials, Tools and Supports essential materials and tools and their application, painting and priming surfaces, how to stretch canvas and paper; Preliminary Studies using windows, viewfinders, sketching techniques and squaring up the drawing; Composition keeping it clear and simple; what to keep and what to reject; cropping, deep space, planes and structure; Alla Prima making quick studies, using wet into wet, a fully loaded brush, washes and linear sketches; Qualities of Colour hue, chroma and value; creating your own colour wheel; the science, symbolic and psychological meaning of colour; Colour Mixing 1 how to mix black and make a grey scale; Colour Mixing 2 how to mix tints, tones and shades; Tonal Painting considerations in using a restricted palette and simplifying forms, planes, tones and temperatures; Painting the Figure exploring different approaches to mixing flesh tones; Resolving Figure Painting completing your figure study; course and personal review.
