Higher National qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care are work-related qualifications with greater emphasis on employer engagement and work readiness embodying the latest in professional standards whilst students become professional, self-reflecting individuals, able to meet the demands of employers in the Early Education and Care sector. Graduates are able to adapt to a constantly changing world.

Suitability - Who should attend?
It is expected that you will have achieved a minimum of 48 UCAS tariff points from a relevant level 3 qualification before commencing this programme.
However, if you do not have relevant level 3 qualifications, but have relevant work experience, you are also welcome to apply.
You may be invited to an interview where appropriate.
Qualifications in English and Mathematics:
Ideally you will have a GCSE grade C (4) or equivalent in both English and Mathematics. However, there are options for you to complete one of these qualifications while studying on this programme.
English Language for non native speakers:
- Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2.
- PTE 51
- IELTS 5.5: Reading and Writing must be at 5.5 or equivalent.
Level: This qualification is set at level 4 (HNC).

This Pearson accredited qualification will support you to develop best practice in promoting, protecting and safeguarding the rights, wellbeing, health and safety of children through set assignments alongside a placement requirement and completion of a Practical Reflective Evidence Portfolio (PREP).

Course delivery details
A Higher National qualification is equivalent to either a level 4 or level 5 university qualification, for example a foundation degree.
This level 5 course will be delivered using a blended approach of both class-based sessions and remote learning.
