Course description
This course aims to extend the basic site carpentry skills already achieved, perhaps having completed our Level 1 Construction Diploma, or equivalent. The course includes practical and theory based training in the discipline of site carpentry, to meet recognised industrial standards.

Suitability - Who should attend?
The Diploma Site Carpentry Level 2 is for persons who have previously completed a level 1 course in Carpentry/Joinery and is a natural progression. It is also for anybody who is completing an NVQ2 in Site Carpentry as the two qualifications can be gained together. This course assumes that the applicant prefers the Site Carpentry aspect as opposed to Bench Joinery.
Training Course Content
The programme consists of 8 mandatory units and within these units there are 11 practical synoptic tests. Units covered include: General health and safety in the workplace; Efficient work practices Moving and handling resources. The subject specialised units include: First fixing components, such as floors, roofs etc. Second fix components, such as skirting, architrave etc. Carcassing components such as stairs. There is also a unit on safe use of circular saws.
Course delivery details
The Site Carpentry Level 2 Construction Diploma is based on continuous assessment of practical and theory tests. These assessments are scheduled at regular intervals over the year after the associated period of training has been completed. From time to time you may be given theory tasks to be completed as homework. In addition, following any period of absence, you will be expected to catch up with your theory work in your own time.
