Course description
This new course is aimed at all those who specify or use materials deigned to either consolidate or protect stone buildings. It will start by examining the history of, and the need for these materials. It will explain the significant differences between coatings and consolidants and will cover the expectations, theories and practical realities of treatments. Participants will have the opportunity to use and study the effects of consolidants (such as nanolime, ethyl silicate and HCT) and surface coatings (such as shelter coat, limewash and silicate paints).
