Course description
Interest in avian and exotic animal medicine and surgery has evolved over the past decade and it is now one of the fastest growing areas in veterinary medicine. This course has been designed for veterinarians in practice, working with avian cases, wishing to gain a higher level of expertise in their approach to sick and injured avian and exotic patients, anaesthetic safety, and making a correct differential diagnosis. The course also includes discussions of common diseases in birds of prey, as well as a master class on avian radiology, based on clinical case examples.
The following topics will be covered inlectures and case presentations:
- In depth avian medicine (respiratory, GIT, dermatology, behaviour)
- Avian Anaesthesia
- Differential diagnoses - Achieving differential diagnosis and providing supportive care
- Common diseases of birds of prey - Husbandry and management related disease, aspergillosis, bumblefoot, GIT disease, viral and neoplastic disease
- Avian radiography master class - Top to toe, making the correct interpretation
