Course description
This 30-credit short course introduces concepts of social and emotional mental health and wellbeing
This course explores a range of factors which influence mental health and wellbeing and how these can impact both positively and negatively upon children and young people.
You will be encouraged to critically consider your own beliefs, assumptions and perceptions in relation to mental health and wellbeing.
You will develop your knowledge of evidence-based strategies to support the development and maintenance of positive social and emotional mental health and wellbeing.
This course has been designed with employers to ensure that it provides the knowledge and skills needed in the education and children’s services sector.

How will I learn?
You will be taught over 12 weeks beginning with a full day in-person launch conference where you can meet the other students on your course.
This will be followed by weekly evening live-online teaching sessions in the virtual classroom and flexible online learning activities to fit around your work and commitments.
These short courses will be eligible for tuition fee loans in a 3-year trial as part of the government’s preparations for the Lifelong Learning Entitlement.
You will be eligible for a tuition fee loan for your short course if you live in England, even if you have had student loans for university courses in the past.
