Course description
Research conducted by Petriwskyj (2010) suggests that Early Years practitioners need to move away from surface level tinkering of the curriculum to focus on the deep hidden curriculum values and acceptance. By considering the diversity within our communities and the cultural roots of the children this training seeks to fulfil this need.
Those who had previously received training in this area commented that it was a really useful reminder of key points and enforced existing training via the governments PREVENT agenda.
This one-day workshop aims to raise awareness of the importance of embracing the holistic identity of individual children; to understand the complexity of children’s identity and culture and the impact of this on wellbeing and learning; to consider ways of supporting children by embracing knowledge held within the home environment; and to develop strategies for working collaboratively with parents and local communities to support sustainable understanding of our communities within UK.
