Entry requirements
- Ability to study at level 6
- Professional registration as a healthcare professional:
- Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- You must be working in a clinical area that allows you to meet the learning outcomes.
This module is the first of two modules that must be completed:
- Anaesthetic Practitioner Part 1 (HCR3001)
- Anaesthetic Practitioner Part 2 (HCR3002).

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this module, you will be able to:
- Critically analyse the anatomical and physiological measurements associated with patients undergoing anaesthesia and evaluate the outcomes.
- Identify and examine the pharmacokinetics of peri-anaesthesia drugs.
- Utilise theoretical, experiential and research based knowledge to effectivelymanage the patient during all emergency procedures.
- Evaluate the issues of accountability, responsibility and role limitations within professional boundaries for the anaesthetic practitioner and future anaesthetic practice.
- Develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of patient safety during anaesthesia and the impact of national and local anaesthesia practitioner policies to your practice.
- Achieve and apply competencies within the anaesthetic care practitioner's role.

Course delivery details
For the 2022/23 curriculum, our CPD moduleswill be delivered usinghybrid learning. This means that depending on the subject and content of learning and teaching, modules will mainly be delivered via a combination of face to face and online delivery, as this has worked really well for our practice-based colleagues. A couple of modules will be delivered solely online, however for most modules face to face contact time and attendance at the university will be required.
