Kew Gardens is a designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
founded in 1759. It has the largest, most diverse, collections
of living and preserved botanical specimens in the world. Kew
contains a vast collection of over 14,000 trees. Trees, apart from
their visual and environmental contribution, can also contribute to
concerns for property owners and surveyors.
During the course, you will look at the conditions that give rise
to tree problems, examine the specific circumstances in which
tree damage occurs, and review the case law with regard to
both damage and the owner’s duty of care. Most importantly, it
includes a tour of the trees and gardens looking at the species and
the common problems that they pose.
The learning outcomes of this course provide an understanding of:
• soil conditions and subsidence
• circumstances in which tree related damage occurs
• BS 5837:2012 ‘Trees in relation to design, demolition and
construction – recommendations’
• liability and key cases: tree related damage; the owner’s duty
of care
• identification, suitability for use in the built environment, and
problems and the management of risk
Course Costs
- The standard price for a half day course is £105.00
- For Individual and Organisations booking three or more half day courses at one time can obtain the courses for £90.00 each course as a multirate discount
- For APC candidates/Retired attendees/Apprenticeship rate - the price is £70.00 per course
