Course description
The Sleep & Circadian Neuroscience Institute (SCNi), within The Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (NDCN) offers an online programme in Sleep Medicine and in conjunction with this programme it is pleased to present standalone modules for those wishing to study only one or two aspects of the programme to facilitate professional practice. Modules will be available when they are running for the main programme and you will join the rest of the group at this time.
Programme details
This module will run for 6 academic weeks w/c Monday November 7th 2022. It is expected that after completion of this module students will be able:
- To understand nosological classifications and definitions of hypersomnias
- To describe the diagnostic criteria, prevalence, morbidity and comorbidities of Narcolepsy and Kleine-Levin Syndrome
- To describe the pathophysiology of Narcolepsy and Kleine-Levin Syndrome
- To gain knowledge of, and appraise the utility of, treatment options for Narcolepsy and Kleine-Levin Syndrome
- To understand nosological classifications and definitions of parasomnias
- To describe the diagnostic criteria, prevalence, morbidity and comorbidities of parasomnias
- To describe the pathophysiology of parasomnias
- To gain knowledge of, and appraise the utility of, treatment options for parasomnias
