Course description
Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is a complex topic. 'Lottie' is a modern interactive computer simulation which brings to life the issues and potential solutions for professionals and the young people they work with. Awareness of what to look out for, how to spot grooming behaviour is enhanced by being able to interact with the simulation and reflect upon decisions and actions of all parties. The ‘Lottie’ training offers a mixture of experiential learning underpinned by research, tools and practice implications. You will learn about CSE, how to use the tool and how to get the best out of it for your organisation.
About the 'Lottie' simulation
Developed with NHS Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex, ‘Lottie’ offers health and social care and education professionals training on key aspects of online CSE - gaining insight into the process and implications for the victim and groomer. It is an interactive and immersive simulation, based on real cases and research, 'Lottie' is designed for both professionals and young people needing to identify how young people are groomed online for sexual exploitation.
The simulation follows the compelling and contemporary story of a schoolgirl Lottie and how she becomes involved with Jack, a seemingly innocent ‘boyfriend’. Through the use of a social media style interface, we are able to learn about grooming by tracking the behaviour of the groomer and see the implications for the victim.
