Physical Health Knowledge and Skills for Mental Health Nurses
The study days could be attended as standalone study days or part of a suite of study days leading to a module or academic credit via the portfolio module. Each day focuses upon a specific type of physical health problem and includes theory from one of the adult nursing lecturers, followed by a session from a mental health lecturer focusing on treatment and interventions applied to the role of the mental health nurse. The afternoon will consist of a skills session to cover new and relevant skills which would be assessed to the workplace.

To provide mental health nurses with knowledge of underlying pathophysiology, signs and symptoms of risk factors and associated skills of physical health problems affecting mental health clients. Demonstrate an understanding of pathophysiology, signs and symptoms and risk factors of common physical health problems Demonstrate the associated skills in assessment, monitoring and administering prescribed treatment for these conditions
