Course description
Family Support
This module is suitable for all qualified mental health practitioners. Participants will be required to find a practice supervisor with expertise in this area.
You may undertake this module as part of the BSc Hons Professional Practice.
The treatment of mental illness would not be possible without the support of family members. Recognising the impact that mental illness has on them and the support they need is the basis of this module. It will provide you with a foundation in working with families, and it includes theories and skills associated with engagement, assessment, psychoeducation and co-working (in line with NICE Guidelines 2009).
