Course description

University of Greenwich

Appraising and/or conducting mixed-methods research to advance practice (Online) SD-28

The aim of the short course is to introduce participants to how research and evidence can inform policy and practice.

This will be achieved through participants exploring different ways of acquiring and applying evidence; introducing different approaches to research and these produce different outcomes suitable to different healthcare issues and contexts; and a workshop exploring how research could inform and improve participants’ own practice area and day-to-day working. Ideally the students should have attended the study day entitled “Advancing Practice through Research” (SD-39)and will be asked to formulate a research topic idea they would like to pursue that will involve either and audit surveys or interviews/focus groups involving patients or staff. They should produce 250-500 words as to their initial ideas prior to commencing these study days.
