This is a six month, degree level course.
Whether you write articles, blogs or popular tweets - media law is something you need to know about. On this course you'll be taught by industry expert Alex Wade - journalist, media lawyer an author of Surf Nation and Wrecking Machine. You'll also hear from speakers such as Gillian Phillips, Head of Legal Services for The Guardian and learn how to understand and comply with media law.
The Leveson Inquiry proves that knowledge of media law is important. We live in a world of instantaneous global communication via a variety of media, from traditional print newspapers and their online incarnations. Get it wrong, and a publisher can be sued for millions. In today's world, a publisher isn't just a newspaper with deep pockets; it can be an individual writing online; it could be you.
Whether you are at the start of your writing career, climbing the ladder or an expert in writing for the media - knowledge of the law and how it relates to the media profession is essential.
