Course description
Do you enjoy looking at paintings and sculpture and want to expand your knowledge of western culture by studying different styles of painting, sculpture and architecture? If so, then this the course for you.
You will study the history of art in all its rich and varied forms, exploring it from many angles. Looking at the gorgeous, the outrageous, the magnificent and the humble, you will learn how to analyse all these works of art within their historical context. This is an academic subject, it is essay based, and has many broader educational benefits. As well as expanding your knowledge about art and architecture, this course will help you to develop your writing and research skills, and your ability to synthesize information from many sources. These are valuable skills for any course of further study.
