Course description
Do you have photographer’s block? Could you do with some help to finish and complete a project? Would you benefit from feedback about your project, a peer group and the facilities to help you achieve a printed portfolio or project? If your answer to any of these questions is yes then this course is for you.
On the course, you will be given the opportunity to present your current project/work in progress to the group by way of introduction to your working practice. There will be introduction to both darkrooms giving you the option to produce either black-and-white or colour prints, depending on your aims.
You'll learn how to achieve a high standard of print finishing and print mounting for presentation. You'll also be encouraged to review and discuss your work with the group to produce a curated series of work by the end of the week.
There will be some time to photograph in an agreed location to help you with technique and confidence. You can also have access to our studio to complete or add to your project. As part of the learning process, all members of the group will be expected to support each other in their aims by assisting on shoots and listening and engaging with advice and suggestions from your tutor.
By the end of the course, you'll produce a printed portfolio and grow the confidence to present this completed body of work to curators or publishers. You'll also have an artists’ statement to accompany the work and there will be discussion of how to get your work seen by industry professionals.
