Course description
Working at Pace - How to use Project Management Tools & Techniques in your Daily Work
We all have things we need to deliver, both at work and at home, even if they’re not “official” projects. Even a basic understanding of and knowing a few simple project management tools, can make it a lot easier to deliver exactly what people want without costly re-work and the headaches that go with it.
As an outcome of attending this session you will:
- Understand how projects are both different from and yet similar to day-to-day work
- Learn how adopting a “project-centred mindset” can help you with everything you need to get done
- Learn how to capture what people want in a way that honours their needs but also makes clear what is possible within the time/money available
- Be able to use a simple documenting approach (project charter) to define up front what the scope of the effort is
- Learn a few simple and effective planning techniques
- Understand how crucial it is to involve the customer and all those who can affect or are affected) by what you’re doing (stakeholders)
- Understand how to plan for things that could go wrong (risks) and manage the things that actually do go wrong (issues)
- Learn why 80% of success in delivery is down to communication and what are the best ways of communicating progress

Suitability - Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for people who want to work smarter and better, and to learn how, by adopting a “project-centered” mindset and using a few simple project management tools, you can change not only your own experience of delivering, but also change others’ experience of working with you. Ultimately you’ll end up with less repeat work, happier ”customers” and deliver more value!
