Course description
Leading Projects through Influence
Every project manager needs to obtain work, support, decisions, information and more from others. In the project environment, project managers need powerful interpersonal skills to influence team members not directly accountable to them. Knowing how to influence without authority helps project managers achieve success in a way that values, supports, and nurtures a positive working relationship with others.
In this workshop, project managers will not only learn how influence works but also practice the strategies and behaviours to maximize influence among project stakeholders.
The workshop integrates a powerful model of influence with a behaviour assessment that provides 360º feedback on:
- Influence strategies,
- Powers,
- Skills and behaviours.
Participants then develop their influence competency through practicing varied influence approaches in relevant and challenging situations, improving their ability to:
- First diagnose the influence situation,
- Craft an influence strategy,
- And then strategically apply the most effective style.
- They will work with influencing upward, downward and laterally, expanding the understanding of the leadership skills required in situations where one has little or no direct authority.

Suitability - Who should attend?
How do you exert enough influence to get your project done when you aren’t given enough authority to do so? Few project managers have much if any direct authority over their project teams or stakeholders – if this resonates, then this workshop is for you.
