NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005

What does this qualification cover?

The qualification aims to provide learners with:

• an understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
• an understanding of the importance of complying with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Code of Practice when working with individuals who lack capacity
• the knowledge to apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in their practice.

Who is it suitable for?

This qualification supports those working in organisations providing care to those individuals who lack capacity by providing the underpinning knowledge and understanding of how the Act is applied in workplace practice.

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 2 qualification in a health or social care related area.

How is this qualification structured?

To be awarded the Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, learners are required to successfully complete one mandatory unit:

• Unit 01 Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005

How is it assessed?

To achieve the Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the mandatory unit. Grades are not awarded.

The Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 is internally assessed.
