Course description
Do you see yourself as the next Quentin Tarantino or Kathryn Bigelow? Do you have a passion for all things film? Getting into this highly competitive sector requires commitment and dedication. You'll get that from your tutors with a wealth of industry experience and together we will develop your technical skills and expertise to be able to kickstart your career in the media.
We encourage our students to dream big - supporting students with film festival applications, developing their own individual style and learning the importance of collaboration. Our Creative Media Production courses will lay the foundations, helping make your dreams a reality.
The course will teach you everything you need to know, whatever level you're starting at, while putting the creative power in your hands. There are many great work experience and collaboration opportunities across the whole of the creative industries department, college and professional world.
The college has a great TV studio, giving students the chance to edit using a green screen, and the rare opportunity to physically process and cut 16mm film.
The tutors not only bring their unique experiences having worked in the industry themselves but are also incredibly supportive, in other words, they're fantastic. The balance between being treated like a professional adult and also getting the help and direction that you need is a fantastic learning environment.
A strong portfolio and work experience are both essential to getting ahead in the media industry, so we will support you in developing a body of work and creating a showreel. Students have recently benefitted from work experience with St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, FilmMerton, TEDx, Southwest TV, Safewood Theatre and Film Production, local film companies and charities, whilst some created their own podcast channels and one even launched her own fashion line!
Our courses focus on practical assignments whilst teaching you about the theories that underpin these industry practices. Whether your path is to HE or a job in the creative media sector, you will be equipped with the confidence, knowledge and skills to succeed.
