Course description
Introduction
You'll study specialist business units including marketing, planning, strategy, operations, business environment, human resources, finance and IT to prepare you for university study. Tutorial sessions will help you with your UCAS applications and there is also a focus on the development of study skills to give you everything you'll need to succeed at degree level. You'll cover many different approaches to learning including research, observation, written assessment, peer assessment and individual and small group presentations.
Assessment
Assessments take place throughout the course with essays, assignments, presentations, tests and final exams. You must pass each unit and gain a total of 60 credits, of which 45 must be at Level 3, to achieve the qualification.

Suitability - Who should attend?
You should be 19 or over at the start of this course.This course will prepare you for study at university-level, but you should check the entry requirements for the universities you are interested in as well. English and mathsMost universities ask for GCSE English and maths grade A*-C/9-4.If you're missing one of these GCSEs at the required grade:You will need to sit an assessment and depending on your results, you could study a GCSE course or a Level 2 Functional Skills course alongside Access. This option is intensive so you'll need to be committed to studying the extra hours.If you're missing both GCSE English and maths A*-C/9-4 or your assessment results show you're unlikely to get above grade D/3:You'll need to take an English and/or maths Functional Skills or GCSE course before studying Access to develop your skills in this area.In some cases we may consider equivalent international qualifications. Please ask our team about this when you come in for interview.If you don't have GCSEs A*-C/9-4, don't forget we have other options that might suit you.
