Course description
Traineeship
A traineeship will help you to become ‘work ready’ if you are a young person (aged 16-24). It will give you work experience and skills in an area that you’re interested in and will look great on your CV making you more employable.
If you are motivated to get a job but feel that you lack some skills and experience or don’t quite feel ready for the world of work yet then a traineeship can help you to unlock your full potential. You’ll be given specific work preparation training before your work experience so you’ll feel ready by the time you start your placement. You’ll get given a real work experience placement which will help prepare you for getting a job and is also your chance to prove to an employer what you can do.
If you have been unsuccessful in the past when applying for a job or apprenticeship then a traineeship is a good place to start. When you have completed it you can progress on to a full apprenticeship, training or a paid role. You’ll also work towards qualifications in maths and English (unless you already have them at GCSE). A traineeship is your chance to get started on your dream career path and meet new friends.

Continuing Studies
Traineeships are designed to prepare young people for employment through work experience and work ready skills so that they can progress successfully to get a job, an apprenticeship or further learning. Many of our students secure work during or at the end of the programme.
At the end of the programme work placement each trainee will receive an exit interview with their employer so they can practise and prepare for future interview opportunities. Where possible the trainee will receive a real job interview if an apprenticeship or other position has become available at their host company.
In either case, trainees will receive written feedback from the employer reflecting the time spent on their placement to help them improve their performance.
All those completing traineeships will also receive a job reference which can be used when applying for jobs or apprenticeships after the programme.
I did a traineeship with SS&L in yeovil, great staff especially my tutor Dave Roach who helped me to get an apprenticeship in childcare would totally recommend!!
