Course description
This course aims to provide students with a basic knowledge of Japanese and focuses on the acquisition of practical communicative skills such as asking directions and ordering food and drinks. Following Japanese Beginners 2, this course continues to cover some basic grammar and vocabulary. Students completing this course are able to continue to Japanese Elementary 1.
The course is taught in English and Japanese and includes coverage of the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing and a balance between communicative activities, structure practice and grammar and vocabulary, developing the skills of comprehending and producing Japanese in speech and writing, guided practice in language usage and authentic communicative activities.
By the end of the course, students will be familiar with present and past tenses, the counter system and using comparatives.
