Course description
This course is aimed at those who have completed Chinese Beginners 1 (or the equivalent). It develops the students’ ability to ask for essential information relating to everyday activities and to understand social etiquette in today’s modern China.
Students are actively be involved in pair and group work, role plays and games, and will be given ample practice in developing listening and speaking skills. Pattern drills, grammar notes and extended vocabulary are designed to help improve reading and to consolidate key language points. Students are encouraged to increase their knowledge of characters, and tips and advice are given accordingly.
By the end of the course, students are able to get by in a Chinese-speaking environment being able, for example, to asking for directions, go shopping and order food and drink in a restaurant. Students are given more insights into Chinese culture and are able to read and write more Chinese characters. Around 130 words are introduced in this course.
