Characteristic of heavy lifts is the absence of standardization, which requires planning and multidisciplinary preparation.
Carrying out Heavy Lift operations requires:
- Planning
- Procedures and techniques for handling heavy lifts
- Understanding of the ship's stability and use of ballast during lifts
- Inspection and preparation of the ship, lifting equipment, and deck equipment
- Selection and preparation of equipment, including securing
- Awareness of safety, rules, regulations, and legislation
