Course description
Horticulture BTEC Level 3: Learn the practical horticultural skills required for a varied range of careers in the sector. Build up your knowledge and skills in landscape gardening & management, as well as plant propagation and the care of trees. You will learn hard landscape construction, select which plants to use and when to plant them. You will grow plants from seeds or cuttings through to the stage when they are ready to plant out. The course is a mixture of classroombased theory and practical hands-on experience, focusing on teaching you the skills needed to be a professional horticulturalist. You visit garden centres, public parks and gardens, plus have work experience to help you develop your skills, confidence and knowledge of the industry. You will need safety boots and warm clothes for working outdoors.

Suitability - Who should attend?
� 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English & maths. If you do not have grade 4 (C) or above in both subjects the minimum for the other subject is grade 3 (D).orA full Level 2 at Pass grade or above with maths & English grades equivalent to those stated above.* * Students with grade 3 (D) in either English or maths will be expected to re-take that subject in Year 1.� A keen interest in working outdoors and with plants.
