Course description
Health & Social Care BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma (QCF): Gain the skills and experience needed to progress in to work or Higher Education studying nursing, social work or paramedical professions. You will learn how to care for & support individuals with a variety of needs by studying current research, principles of safe practice, public health promotion, sociological & psychological perspectives, supporting individuals with additional needs and more. In Year 1, you complete a 100-hour work placement in a care setting, such as caring for the elderly, working in the community or caring for children with special needs. There will be some externally set assessments as part of the course.

Suitability - Who should attend?
� 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English & maths.� A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at the start of the course.� A keen interest in caring for others.
