Cake Decoration for Intermediates: This intermediate course is ideal if you have some experience in cake decorating and wish to explore a range of techniques to develop your skills further. You will produce a highly impressive, professional looking cake at the end of the ten weeks. Please note, some items will be provided, however, you will need the following equipment: A nylon 9� rolling pin, a smoother, a nylon board to work on (ideally a grooved veining board), a cake drum (at least 2� bigger than your cake) or a 10mm cake board, a craft frilling stick, cornflour, small scissors, plastic storage box, metal ball tool - medium and nozzles no.1 and no.1.5 or 2. Other equipment you may need will be advised by the tutor at the beginning of the course. You will also need to supply ingredients for making a cake and the decorations. This equipment will be enough for all three courses.SEPTEMBER: Decorate a festive cake using runout icing techniques to create a building with stained glass windows, plus make wired flowers and use various piping techniques. You will need to bring a fruit cake or dummy cake around week 5.JANUARY: On an iced fruit/dummy cake (needed around week 2), create oriental string work in royal icing, pipe a contrast ribbon and create piped flower/s.APRIL: Develop your skills creating an afternoon tea themed extravaganza in cake and sugar. You will hand paint teapots, cups, saucers, spoons and plates. Think Alice in Wonderland! You will need to bring a cake towards the end of the course.Discounts are available for multiple bookings of this course.
