Edexcel Level 3 Health & Fitness Academy

This pathway is designed for school leavers looking to work directly in the Health and Fitness industry. This pathway offers industry leading qualifications such as the NCFE Level 2 and 3 in Personal Training, that run in parallel with a full 120-credit Subsidiary Diploma in Sport, giving you opportunities to progress to higher education.

Over the academic year you'll complete three vocational qualifications: Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport; NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym based); NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training; On top of these formal qualifications, you'll have the opportunity to complete a minimum of 30 hours' work experience.

Various activities and events are organised by the Students’ Union. Within the Sports department, we organise outdoor adventure activity days and residential trips (with subsidised activities). College sports teams compete in the Association of Colleges Sport Leagues. You will also have the chance to lead activities in local primary schools.

Assessments are assignment based with no formal exams, just coursework, log books, and practical observations. Following completion of this one-year course, you are able to apply directly for jobs within the Fitness Industry as a qualified Fitness Instructor as well as applying for jobs within the Sports Coaching Sector. If you wish to continue your studies, you can progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Sport that is equivalent to two A Levels.
