Course description
This course is aimed at students who want to continue their learning via the creative world of Performance. The nature of the course demands total commitment and high levels of energy from students. Full-scale productions are staged each term for a variety of different audiences. This two-year, full-time course is the equivalent of 3 A Levels and offers the opportunity to cover the practical and theoretical areas of drama. If you are passionate about the arts and enjoy drama and performing, this could be the course for you. The course recognises the skills, knowledge and understanding of the Performing Arts sector. You should also enjoy working closely with other students in groups as well as on your own initiative, be willing to experiment and explore new topics and have a passion for performance. Examples of units you may study on the course include: Acting Skills, Movement Skills, Performing to an Audience, Improvisation and Rehearsing for Performance.
Learning methods include practical drama workshops, theatre productions, private study, tutorials, theatre visits and class work. Students have opportunities to see professional performances in the West End as well as locally. You also have opportunities to engage with community and local authority organisations. Past students have taken part in projects with the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company. Students have recently gained places at top drama schools such as ALRA following successful auditions. Most students have university or drama school as a target at the end of their studies, and past students have gone on to join degree-level courses across the country, including Birmingham School of Acting, ALRA, De Montfort University, and Stratford-upon-Avon College.

You will need four GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including English, and/or a Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
