Course description
This one-year Level 3 course is ideal for school leavers who have good grades, some previous mechanical experience, and wish to gain practical experience in a wide variety of automotive trades. It is also suitable for learners progressing from a Maintenance and Repair Level 2 programme. The programme is approximately 35% practical and 65% theory. Students are always encouraged to gain subject-related work experience.
The course is primarily assessed through online examinations, spread over the course of the year. Practical assessments will also form an important part of the qualification. Three weeks are set aside purely for the purpose of enrichment. In addition to this, trips related to the core programme may be organised. There is usually no or minimal cost for any of these activities.
On completion of this course successful learners may choose to progress to Level 4, consider a career as an apprentice in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or gain employment within the automotive sector.
