Course description
Investigating Adverse Incidents In Healthcare
The Sancus Investigating Adverse Incidents In Healthcare training is a CPD Certified two day course and is available ‘in-house’ or as a ‘public course’. The course will equip delegates with the skills necessary to successfully carry out such investigations.
Adverse incidents are where the potential for learning is so great, or the consequences to patients, families and carers, staff or organisations are so significant, that they warrant using additional resources for a comprehensive response.
This course will demonstrate how an investigation should be structured and carried out. Delegates will learn the principles of planning an investigation, recovering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Incorporated in the learning is adopting a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) approach to identify the true cause of the incident.
The qualification covers the following topics:
- The principles of investigating adverse incidents
- The initial review of an adverse incident
- Investigating an adverse incident
- Investigative questioning and interviews
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Completing an investigation
The course is suitable for all those from Healthcare organisations who have a responsibility to investigate serious incidents.
This will include NHS Trusts, Private Hospitals, Ambulance Trusts and Charities
The course can also be purchased ‘in house’ by organisations who have numerous delegates to train. Contact Sancus for more details.
