Course description
Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator - Introduction: On this course, you will be introduced to the digital design field using the Adobe software programmes Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. In a workshop environment you will form an understanding of how the three programmes are designed to work seamlessly. You will be introduced to the Adobe software through a series of tutorials and projects. Specifically, you will learn how to retouch photos and manipulate images on Photoshop, create a logo from scratch on Illustrator and design a double sided leaflet on InDesign. What will the course cover?

� The design-for-print process (brochures, leaflets, magazines)
� Layout design
� Image file formats
� Workspaces and tools of each program
� Setting up and working with a simple InDesign Document.
� Importing artwork created in Photoshop and Illustrator to InDesign.
� Creating, saving and exporting documents for print output.
� Individual Design Project: Learners will work to a design brief to produce individual projects exploring the techniques they have learned.
Specific topics per programme:
Photoshop:
Navigating the PS interface; document set-up ; understanding image resolution; working with layers, selections and other basic image editing tools
Illustrator:
Navigating the AI interface; vector v raster; fill and stroke; paths, shapes, type, the drawing and painting tools; exporting to InDesign.
InDesign:
Navigating the Indd interface; page set-up; fill and stroke; text editing and type on a path; importing images and graphics; principles of good layout and use of grids; outputting for print
The three programs will be taught alongside each other, with a focus on using them together.
Course outcomes:

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is suitable for beginners to Adobe programmes, however you should have a basic working knowledge of computers, and ideally Mac computers so you can get started knowing how to work the basic commands.
