Course description
Life Drawing - All Levels Tuesday (PAYG Available): Working from the life model you will explore a range of materials and approaches. You will be introduced to different ways of using line, tone and colour to make various drawings and paintings to help understand form and space.
You will learn strategies to help you draw the figure more accurately from observation and/or expressively using a variety of drawing materials.

� You will learn a range of beginners to advanced drawing techniques to use in life drawing, including line drawing, tonal studies, perspective and looking at anatomy.
� You will get to know different historical, global and contemporary approaches to figure drawing.
� You will become familiar with the construct of a traditional life drawing studio and gain confidence in this environment.
� You will learn how to use a range of materials to draw the figures from charcoal, to pencils and ink.
If you are a returning learner you will:
� Have access to continuing drawing practice with a model and in a formal life class.
� Be able to organise your own approach to life drawing practice if preferred
This drawing course is shaped by a focus on drawing the figure. It aims to advance drawing skills through a range of challenging tasks, which usually begin with essential ways to get started in plotting your figure on the paper and advance through looking and a range of tactical and material challenges that lodge themselves between objective recording and more expressive drawing approaches. All sessions are usually grounded with contextual reference.
The course will cover a range of observational and recording tasks that for example, might include: scale - getting the student to be able to fit their figure effectively on the paper, using basic measuring tactics; Proportion using negative space; Design - working with composition and framing. The course will also target more expressive objectives tha

Suitability - Who should attend?
This is a mixed ability class and beginners as well as more advanced learners are welcome. Your tutor will assess your existing knowledge at the first class.
