The EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (or SHEA) schemes are an excellent way to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness within your company. The SHEA Cross-Country Pipelines one-day course is essential training for all operatives who require access to operational sites, both permanent and temporary, within the gas industry. It has been developed through careful consultation with the gas industry to give operatives an excellent understanding of key workplace health, safety and environmental issues

Suitability - Who should attend?
All individuals requiring access to operational sites within the gas industry, including supervisors and managers.
Prerequisites
There are no pre-course requirements for this course.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the legal frameworks with regards to health, safety and the environment, as well as their practical application in the workplace setting.
- Explain key environmental considerations in the workplace, and the employees’ impact on the sustainability of their workplace environment.
- Identify common workplace risks and hazards and understand their own role in minimising their impact through a range of proactive health and safety behaviours, in line with CSCS requirements.
- Explain the term ‘occupational health’, identify a range of occupational health hazards within the workplace and know how to minimise their impact.
- Understand emergency response behaviours, the role of reporting, inspection and enforcement of health & safety in the workplace.
- Understand the role and importance of wayleaves and contracts in the operation of management of cross-country sites, as well as environmental protection of the land.
- Identify the specific hazards of laying cross-country pipelines.
- Understand the need for a clear and comprehensive Traffic Management Plan for a pipeline construction site.

The scheme consists of nine modules-six core and three cross-country pipeline specific- and cover the following health, safety and environmental learning outcomes:

- Common Hazards in the Workplace
- Responding to Emergencies
- The Cross-Country Environment (CCP Specific Module)
- Cross-Country Pipeline Hazards (CCP Specific Module)
- Traffic Management (CCP Specific Module)
