Course description
The EUSR Safe Control of Operations (SCO) Non Routine Operations (NRO) qualification provides a framework to support safe and legally compliant working practices on gas networks in non-routine operations. This scheme enables individuals employed by the gas distribution networks to become a named Competent Person (CP) or an Authorising Engineer (AE) for Non-Routine Operations depending on their role in their respective responsibilities.

Suitability - Who should attend?
All gas industry personnel involved in operational and/or minor works on the Gas networks and certain types of Meter Installations including, but not strictly limited to, those who are or will become:
Named Authorising Engineers, or
Named Competent Persons for Non-Routine Operations, normally those in a supervisory capacity.
Candidates must be technically competent persons and have nominations from their Reviewing Manager.
For Competent Persons, candidates must have the ability, appropriate training, knowledge and experience to supervise and/ or carry out work on site in a safe and proper manner.
For Authorising Engineers, candidates must have the ability, appropriate training, knowledge and experience to authorise works to be undertaken in a safe and proper manner.
All candidates must have completed SCO Core and SCO Permit to Work
All individuals must possess the appropriate skills to perform their role, this includes suitable reading and writing abilities.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
On completion of the SCO NRO Authorising Engineers and Competent Persons course, delegates will be able to:
Describe the purpose of an NRO and identify when one may be use
State key information requirements needed for an NRO
Describe the process, roles and responsibilities of those involved in planning and completion of an NRO form
Describe the process, roles and responsibilities of those involved in the preparation and execution of the NRO
Describe the process, roles and responsibilities of those involved in the management of NRO works
On completion of the course, the candidate will have EUSR registration for five years from the date of assessment.
