NEW Watercolour for Beginners
You will be tutored in the basic skills and techniques of watercolour, such as mixing, layering, washes, applications, palette management and use of materials [paper, brushes, paints etc..] Different subjects will be explored, such as landscape, still life, urban scenes etc.. and these will be related to the work of a variety of artists, both traditional and contemporary. Demonstrations and discussions will be given to gain an understanding of how to approach exercises and projects.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is suitable for complete beginners and those who have some basic knowledge of watercolour.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
By the end of the course, you will have learned the basic techniques and approaches to using watercolour, relating to a variety of subjects and artists, working from direct observation and photographic sources. This will give you a general grounding on the different ways to manipulate watercolour, as well as an understanding of colour theory, colour mixing, split primaries and using a restricted palette. Some tutoring will also be given for drawing skills.
Course delivery details
Materials Required: HB or 2B Pencils, eraser, Watercolour paints [pans or tubes – a box of pans are preferable for beginners…White Nights, St Petersburg paints are good quality..around £20], watercolour palette for mixing paints, Watercolour brushes [synthetic Flats and rounds – No 8, No 16] Watercolour pad [A3 Cold-pressed NOT], Plastic pot for water, Tissues. Some materials can be expensive, so we will discuss what to buy during the first session.
