NEW Portrait Photography
This essentially practical course will help students to develop a personal style and confidence with technique. They will photograph each other along with models in the street using natural light and studio flash. Explored will be the history and concepts behind photographic portraiture, including the many different ways in which a portrait may be shot and even interpreted. You will learn the real differences between candid and formal and see how portraiture has evolved and diversified over the generations. Well known portrait photographers work will be looked at for critique and analysis. On the practical side the technical aspects including camera controls and how to use light effectively will be covered. An understanding of how different focal lengths can totally alter the nature, expression and, ultimately, even the intention behind a photographic portrait. You will leave the course with an appreciation of just how broadly the term portraiture may be interpreted. There will be plenty of time to practice with set photo shoots on location in the city where there are many great locations to make creative portraits. Here we will look at various ways to really make creative portraits. Throughout the course there will be time to look at your work for critiques, which will help improve your pictures taking.

You will need to bring a DSLR, Mirrorless or Bridge camera which can work on fully manual settings and the camera manual.
