Drawing & Pastels (All Levels)
This course will be of interest to students new to using pastels as well as the more experienced practitioner. The course will explore the application of both chalk and oil pastels and an introduction into papers and surfaces.

The course will include the opportunity to experiment with different ways of applying the medium as well as papers and surfaces. There will be the opportunity to experiment as well as produce more developed pieces of work and a choice of subjects which will include still life, transcription, portraiture, landscape as well as exploring a more abstract method.
Course delivery details
You do not need to buy everything in advance and the tutor will be happy to advise you. Please bring chalk pastels if you have them. Otherwise, for the first session a limited range of colours will be needed including - Most pastel sets include these or other tints. There are boxes of pastels available in the school shop. If buying for the first time I would suggest that you only buy a small set – 12 to 20 for example – you can always buy other individual colours and tints from art suppliers as you go along. Paper: A pastel pad with a range of tones (A4 or A3). A4 is a manageable size when working on location. You can buy individual A2 sheets of pastel paper in the school shop. Fixative or hairspray, a much cheaper alternative. 2 bulldog clips.
