Course description
The aims of this course are to explore both the theoretical aspects and practical applications of medical statistics with individuals coming from the Biomedical Sciences who have a non-Mathematics background.
Course content
•Normal and non-normal distributions; error; standard deviation; variance and standard error.
•T test and ANOVA; validity interpretation; least squares difference tests.
•Non-parametric tests; validity and interpretation.
•Line arregression – validity, residual soutliers and interpretation.
•Non-line arregression, multivariate regression and modelling.
•Survival analysis, including Kaplan Meier, proportional hazards, and Coxregression; limitations and interpretation.
•Cluster analysis and principal components analysis.
Assessment will comprise of a written assignment (60%) and an IT statistics workbook assessment (40%).
