Course description

Familial Hypercholesterolemia Module

The module will introduce you to the pathophysiology of the disease and the subsequent impact for the patient and family. You will learn about the key interventions required to manage patients with this condition and develop knowledge and skills related to the principles of genetic counselling. The issues surrounding service development will be explored giving you the opportunity to understand how your own service may be improved.

The module is delivered over 5 weeks and each session is 3 hours direct (virtual classroom) teaching contact and 3 hours directed study per week. Your attendance is required each week. Please Note: programme delivery is subject to reaching minimum numbers.

Assessment is based around a competency framework which allows you to demonstrate achievement of the module learning outcomes and be awarded a certificate of completion from Northumbria University.
